Noted to be one of Europe's most romantic and beautiful cities.
The city in its entirety, also its lagoon is listed as a World Heritage site.
According to tradition, Venice was founded in 421AD on 25th April.
The Winged Lion is the traditional symbol of Venice. It is the symbol of Mark the Evangelist, (The apostle).
St. Mark has been the city's patron saint since his remains were taken from a tomb in Alexandria, Egypt, and bought to Venice in 828AD.
The Lion of Venice is usually represented with its paw on an open book that has the text,
"Pax tibi, Marce, Evangelista meus." This is Latin, meaning, "Peace be upon you, O Mark, my Evangelist."
The Winged Lion can be seen everywhere in Venice

Their is so much to see and do in and around Venice, all times of the Year.
In January you have the Mask Carnival, this historical event is for twelve days, finishing on Shrove Tuesday. The Carnival is of Masks, and full of beautiful costumes, Balls, Parties and other events, making it a memorable event for everybody, young and old. (approximately 3 million people attend this beautiful Carnival in those twelve days.)
Venice itself has so much to offer. The exhibitions, of history, and art, The beautiful architecture,its chapels and squares, including St. Marks Square. (Piazza San Marco.) And also the Gondolas
The pleasure and romance of a Gondola ride
Wonderful shops, to suit all tastes.
Cafes, and restaurants, excellent food, wine, with good service and prices.
People always friendly and helpful.
Also the Island of Murano which is famous for its glass ware, and Burano for its famous lace making. Both Islands are beautiful and Interesting.
