Seven Locks of Beziers

The 7 Locks were engineered by Pierre-Paul Riquet in the 17th Century.
When he engineered and constructed the Canal du Midi, joining the Gulf of Lyon (Mediterranean Sea) and the Bay of Biscay (Atlantic Ocean) this formed part of his engineering masterpieces.
The 7 Locks together allow a drop of 21 metres in water level with its design.
When in operation watching boats moving through the locks is incredible.
